Ticks only breathe a couple of times an hour so, They are not easy to drown. But they're even more talented than that.
Ticks breathe through tiny openings on the underside of their bodies and near their hind legs. These openings are called spiracles. Ticks can close these spiracles for several hours without any difficulty. In fact, since ticks are very susceptible to drying out, they regularly close their spiracles to reduce water loss during hot periods of the day."

Obviously, if they can hold their breath for hours, it would be practically impossible to smother them with petroleum jelly either.
Ticks cement themselves to the wound they create and that's why you often see little bits of skin attached to the mouth parts if you're lucky enough to get them off whole. On top of that, those mouth parts have barbs something like fishhooks on them, so ticks can't back out easily even if they want to. It takes them a long time to disengage on their own.
A flea comb won't do any good.

3 Leading Causes of Death in Dogs (# due to Kibbles)
Ok, did you do it? If not go now, otherwiseread on.
The Three Leading Causes of Death in Dogsare:
1. Cancer
2. Heart Disease
3. Kidney Disease
1. Cancer: The chemicals & preservativesused in many commercial dog foods are knownto cause these cancers..
- Kidney cancer- Bladder cancer- Skin cancer- Stomach cancer- Spleen cancer- Leukemia
The same cancer-causing chemicals &preservatives have been banned from usein human foods because of these knownproblems...
2. Heart Disease: The high proportions ofcheap unhealthy fats in found in many commercialdog foods cause arteriosclerosis and arterialblockages resulting in death by heart attack.
But also, the lack of more expensive omega-3essential fatty acids (EFA) also causes canine heartfailure because without omega-3, ventriculararrhythmias occur and can result in sudden death
3. Kidney Disease: An 11-year study of acute renalfailure in dogs concluded 45% of cases are causedby toxins and 35% by infectious disease.
In the US, April-May 2007, over 2200 dogs died in a3-week period from poisonous toxins found inthe commercial dog foods they ate.
And nutritionally inadequate diets lead to defectiveadrenal glands unable to manufacture adequatecortisol, a hormone vital for health and resistanceto infectious disease (Dr. Alfred Plechner DMV).
if you feed commercial dog food, than consider very carefullythe possible consequences.
